Educational use

The Guide explains general household preparedness, personal-finance organisation, continuity planning, and economic indicators. It is not individualised financial, tax, legal, insurance, medical, engineering, or emergency-services advice. Reading it does not create a professional or advisory relationship of any kind.

No guarantees

A plan can reduce avoidable failure points, but it cannot predict emergencies or guarantee financial outcomes. Local hazards, contracts, household needs, and available resources determine what is appropriate for you. Nothing in the Guide is a forecast, and the Economic Indicator Dashboard is explicitly designed to be used as context for reviewing plans — never as a signal to trade or to panic.

Use qualified help

Use qualified professionals for investments, complex debt, insurance changes, tax matters, legal documents, electrical, gas or structural work, and medical decisions. Rules differ by jurisdiction and by account type, which is why the Guide points you to the relevant institution and professional instead of giving legal conclusions.

In an emergency

During an active emergency, follow the instructions of your local public-safety authorities. The Guide is for the calm periods between events, not for use during one.

Protect your information

Never place passwords, PINs, recovery codes, security answers, or full identity numbers in a printable worksheet. Use a password manager and access-controlled storage for sensitive information; CISA recommends strong passwords and multifactor authentication. Keep completed worksheets secure.

Source discipline

The framework was checked against current primary or official sources, including the CFPB, Ready.gov/FEMA, CISA, the U.S. Department of Energy, NAIC, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Reserve, and the EIA. Those organisations do not endorse this Guide, and citing them does not imply any affiliation. Guidance and release schedules change: check the live source before acting.

Jurisdiction

United States sources are named because the framework uses them for illustration. The method itself is not country-specific, and readers elsewhere should substitute their own official equivalents.
